Our Guérande fleur de sel comes from Batz sur Mer, just opposite Guérande on the Croisic peninsula. Located in the Protected Geographical Indication area, our producer cultivates salt from father to son. They collect nectar from salt marshes.

Fleur de Sel de Guérande is a natural product, the fruit of the ocean, the wind and the sun. It represents the thin layer of crystals on the surface of salt marshes.

Like the imperial picking of tea or neguine saffron, Fleur de Sel represents the most subtle and refined salt one can have.

Benefits

Cooking and Virtue

Fleur de Sel de Guérande is a product appreciated by gourmets and chefs. Finer, more crumbly than coarse salt, it is delicate and melts easily in the mouth.

Because it dissolves quickly, Fleur de Sel de Guérande is best used at the end of cooking, dressing the dish or as a final seasoning when serving.< /span>

It goes well with both savory and sweet dishes.

Origins

A long journey

Guérande Fleur de Sel has been cultivated for centuries. From the Iron Age it was harvested on the Croisic peninsula. It was the monks of the abbey of Landévennec who founded the priory of Batz in 945. They built a whole network of saltworks ensuring prosperity to the peninsula of Le Croisic and Guérande.

Our producer in Batz sur mer collects the fleur de sel in optimal conditions for harvesting: in dry weather, the east wind and the heat of the sun give rise to this thin, fragile and subtle layer of salt . This fleur de sel will never touch the sediments of the carnations (rectangular compartment of the salt marshes) hence its pure and white color.
