Our pink Himalayan salt comes from the Khewra mines located in Pakistan. This rock salt, extracted from rocks dating back millions of years, is pure, without additives, non-iodized and rich in iron.

Its pretty pink color is due to the oxidation of the iron contained in it. You will find it here in the form of 2 to 4mm crystals. It is a popular salt in the kitchen with a salting power equivalent to sea salt and containing more trace elements.

Origins

A long journey

This salt has just returned from a very long journey. More than 260 million years ago, due to the movements of tectonic plates, part of the Tethys ocean was trapped. Giving way to an inland sea that evaporated over the millennia. The remnant of that sea is now in our bags.

It was discovered by Alexander the Great in 350 BC when he noticed that his horses were licking stones in a cave. The Mughal Empire (of India) exploited it in the 16th century until it was taken over industrially by the Sikhs at the end of the 19th century.
