Likouala Pepper is to Congo what Voatsiperifery is to Madagascar. It is a wild and remarkable pepper. It is picked in the wild developing an astonishing aromatic complexity. It offers a spicy, aniseed, almost minty flavor with notes of thyme and fennel to leave a feeling of freshness when tasted. It is a milder pepper than black pepper.

This pepper, sometimes called "Gorilla or Ashanti pepper", is picked by the indigenous Baaka population of the village of Mobangui in the Likouala department, it is one of the last "hunter-picker" tribes in the Congo Basin. p>
