History
Plant & perfume
Chai is the meeting of two cultures: that of tea and that of spices. It seemed obvious to us to marry an Indian tea with our spices. To do this, we work with a tea from the Nilgiris. The Nilgiris district is a region in the western state of Tamil Nadu in India. Nilgiris teas have been recognized as some of the finest in the world. Along with Darjeeling and Assam teas, they are among India's most famous teas.
Korakundah tea is one of these teas. It's a spicy, fruity tea that balances all the flavors of the spices in this chai.
You'll enjoy the warm, sweet notes of Ceylon cinnamon, and the licorice and cardamom with their light camphor. Finally, you'll appreciate the citrus notes of lemongrass, galanga and ginger, and a hint of clove for some caramelized notes.
Benefits
Cooking and Virtue
It's easy to use: pour the contents of a berlingot into a 500ml teapot and add the water. With chai, the spices need a little more time to express themselves. Infuse at 80° for around 10 minutes.
Real chai is drunk with milk and sugar. When your chai tea is ready, add warm milk and sugar to taste. But it can also be drunk without milk or sugar.
It's a warming, spicy, fragrant tea.
No artificial flavors are added, just herbs and spices. They express enough not to add flavour to this natural tea.
Origins
A long journey
The Korakundah tea estate is located in the Nilgiri mountain range in southern India. It covers 2,200 hillside acres and is part of the UNTE (United Nilgiri Tea Estates) founded in 1858 by Sir Robery Stanes.
It is considered “the highest tea garden in the country”, with tea plantations at over 2,400m altitude. The estate covers an area of 925 hectares, of which 275 hectares are planted, while a significant area is preserved as grassland and unpolluted water. It is entirely organic and has developed its own autonomous input unit, housing 180 cows, helping them to use cow dung as compost.
